As part of the unique agreement between CDHPR and United Kennel Club, Inc., the CDHPR Existing Breed committee can help breeds not currently recognized by UKC to develop an Existing Breed Plan that can then be submitted to UKC for consideration.

Dog owner groups wishing to develop their breed and eventually submit their breed for consideration as a recognized and registered breed with United Kennel Club, Inc. can begin by submitting a "Consideration of an Existing Breed Letter of Intent" to CDHPR.

Once the Letter of Intent is received, it will be reviewed by the CDHPR Existing Breed Plan committee and the group submitting the plan will be contacted by CDHPR to discuss their proposal.
